I truly feel that the feminist movement was about giving me a choice. Assuming that I would vote for Hilary just because she's a woman completely disregards my freedom to choose. What about the opportunity to elect the first black man into office? Shouldn't I be just as excited about that historic opportunity?

My choice is to vote for the candidate that I feel has the best plan for our nation. The one who can truly change things for the better. Believe me, I've done my research and I find that the person who best represents me (as a woman) is Barrack Obama.

I realize that this world is not a perfect place for women. There are women all over the world that don't have the freedoms and opportunities that I take for granted on a daily basis. One of the greatest powers that I do have is the power to vote. I owe it to myself and every woman that doesn't have to same right to exercise my choice as I see fit. Not as society deems fit. Not voting for a woman just for the sake of voting for a woman.

I try to keep things on this blog pretty light-hearted and fun. I don't usually get into my politics, but I felt I should respond to your comment. Thank you for reading and I hope you continue to enjoy the blog.Sally Jane Vintagehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09808194953612116751noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2494891251909663152.post-8449536553495542382008-04-20T22:27:00.000-04:002008-04-20T22:27:00.000-04:00I just want to say that it' s too bad that a lovel...I just want to say that it' s too bad that a lovely independent woman like yourself would vote for a man when we are looking at our first viable opportunity to elect a woman to lead our country.

As an artist you should be aware that women are never given as much credit and recognition as the men who produce the same bodies of work. Women are the backbone of every culture and every home throughout the world, across race and economic lines.

Please just keep in mind that you will still make 75 cents on every mans dollar today in 2008, take note of every time a man interrupts you mid sentence and of course how often a woman in a position of power is referred to as a, "bitch."

I just wish that for once the ladies would bond together, and not see each other as competition. That is a position that men have kept us in to keep us quiet.

I just love reading your blog and you seem like a woman I could easily identify with so I just had to comment. Just be thankful this rant was not in person! I get pretty passionate! ;)Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2494891251909663152.post-8126470632400285392008-04-20T13:09:00.000-04:002008-04-20T13:09:00.000-04:00Thanks for the comments!jayne: I was already a bi...Thanks for the comments!

jayne: I was already a bit sick when I left for the rally yesterday but it was definitely worth it. Hearing him speak was amazing and the opportunity of a life time. I'll be out voting on Tuesday for sure. As far as spicy food goes, the spicier the better!
