I've been meaning to take some photos of my favorite vintage finds as of late but just haven't gotten around to it. I guess these will have to suffice for now as they incorporate two of my most favorite finds. I've been searching high and low for a vintage umbrella. All the ones I'd found up until now were a bit masculine and I wanted a pretty girly one. This one's just perfect! It was hot and sunny on our afternoon walk and came in handy to stay nice and cool. I've also been craving cotton sundresses from the 50's - 60's that are fitted at the waist. I had a very specific look in mind and was so surprised to actually run across just what I was looking for. I had to take it in a bit through the bust (as usual) and took a couple of inches off the bottom hem. I used the extra fabric to make a little belt to tie in the back.
This dress is adorable, you look very pretty. And beautiful shots, as always.
ReplyDeleteLovely dress - I totally adore it! It's really special!
ReplyDeleteyour dress is such a cute candyshop from the 1950s style fabric and umbrella is just right :)

ReplyDeletei think that flowers are the perfect accessory for a pretty summer dress. you look wonderful!
ReplyDeleteThat dress was such an amazing find! I used to avoid '50s dresses because of the way they fit me, but lately I've been doing the same thing . .. buying them and altering the bust and making the skirt a bit shorter. Now I love them!
ReplyDeletethat dress is really beautifull!
ReplyDeleteOOoh, I love your umbrella! I have found a couple of vintage umbrellas and at reasonable prices, but I always nervous to purchase because the functionality of an umbrella is key!
ReplyDeleteLove all the pink, you totally look like a candy striper in that dress!

ReplyDeleteboth look so adorable! i am also seeking a sweet little cotton sundress, and hope to be just as lucky as you have been! i completely understand how you feel having to adjust clothing to fit, i am just the same! it can become a pain, but nothing makes an outfit look better than when it fits perfectly, and you illustrate this beautifully!

ReplyDeletethe clothes horse: The nice thing about vintage umbrellas is even if they are no longer water proof you can still use them for shade on hot sunny days. :)
