A quick thank you, thank you, thank you to all of your encouraging comments over the past couple of days. It's so uplifting to read all of your notes after a long day. Tom and I have been through two complete cross-country moves (with three cats in the car!) and neither have been as stressful as this moving seven blocks. We're still living amongst contractors and construction and boxes piled to the ceiling. I'll put it this way... the bath tub is still sitting in the living room. But, it's all coming together and we're loving every minute as much as it's making us a little bit crazy.

Here are a few photos from a week or so ago outside the abandoned silk mill down the road from us. I'm pointing out that these are old photos because there is no way I could pull an outfit together right now! I'm living in old sweatshirts and my painting overalls. Plus it's downright cold outside!

Good luck still with all the housing stuff! I can't wait to see it all pay off when you're finished!

  2. I'm truly jealous of how easily you pull off wearing hats. I really wish I could.

  4. You have 3 cats! My boy has 2, and they are so cute. I am sure your cats are adorable. Maybe you can pose for pictures with them someday? (Or did I miss them out from previous posts)

  13. Our home is 100 years old- so I understand misplaced bathtubs. Love the plaid and the booties with it! Even the purse gives off a schoolgirl vibe. So perfect for fall!

  15. We just bought our first house and moved, too, just a few blocks, and I can't believe how much more work it is than our last move, which was several hundred kilometres more! There's something about all the constant back and forths that is totally exhausting. I'm enjoying your posts about the house, though, and how you plan to decorate, since I quite like your style!

  18. I just moved two days ago and I've been wearing the same outfit for three.
Between moving and running my business, I don't have time to even look at my face.
I probably have something in my teeth right now.
Your house will be finished soon...
Like I said to my BF this morning, Rome wasn't built in a day!

  26. I totally agree with you re:moving house, we also recently moved house with our 3 cats in tow. They spent the day in the cattery while we moved furniture and boy were they unhappy about the whole deal. All 3 are now settled though and just love the new place. You look fab, hope it all went OK for you getting set up in the new place.

  27. Oh, moving house (especially with cats) can be a real pain... I moved 2 months ago from Finland to the US with two cats (8 hours on the plane followed by 3 in a car). I don't think I have ever struggled as much as on the drive from the airport to our new home - I just felt so bad for my kitties. Good luck with settling in, and keep in mind that things will fall into place, they always do. Great outfit, btw. :)

  28. What a gorgeous place to take photos. And I love the dress you're wearing. Lovely!

Living in a place while you're fixing it up can be tough, but you'll get it done and it will look amazing!

  29. This outfit is so beautiful and moody, as is the stunning backdrop. What an extraordinary place to live so close to!
And good luck with your post-move stress - it's funny how moving just down the street can be every bit as crazy as moving across the country. I'm sure it will be worth it once it's all come together, though. :)
