Braids

b
from a series entitled college fashions, 1941, alfred eisenstaedt

I've been wearing my hair in braids for the past few days as it's been driving me a bit crazy and I'm doing everything possible to keep the scissors out of my hands, lest I end up with bangs again. I was so excited to see these old Life images on Tara Lynn's blog! They've given me all sorts of new ideas for keeping my hair out of my eyes while it grows out.

  2. Growing out bangs is certainly one of the more frustrating things related to hair. I'm a fan of wearing vintage scarves in one's hair--and you could certainly pull that off!

  4. Love the pictures! I wear a side braid pretty often. In the winter it's because my hair is so thin and get's that static-cling quality. So annoying!

  6. I have a pixie cut that I'm thinking of growing out. This makes the process a little less scary.

  8. those photos are beautiful... and, you're right, inspiring! i find myself braiding my growing-out bangs and pinning them back just to keep them out of my face. but then i want to cut bangs again sometimes. aaah! it's a vicious cycle.

  10. The photos are awesome. While you grow your bangs out you could just carry around bobby pins to pin your bangs if you're busy and don't want hair in your eyes.

  11. I love the one in the third picture with the giant bow on the end. Oh love. Wishing I was more talented at braiding my thick hair by myself. Great post!

I'm growing my hair out too and scissors are so tempting sometimes aren't they?
