By now my love of old decrepit buildings is well documented here. I'm always a sucker for peeling paint, old hardwood floors and light pouring through dusty windows. So, it's no surprise that I'm head over heels for the Harmony Club. After being abandoned for nearly 40 years the right person came along with a vision and turned it into a spectacular living space. And if I wasn't smitten enough already, learning that the Club is located in Alabama, my home state, sealed the deal. It certainly smashes a lot of preconceptions about what can be done with abandoned buildings. Soooo many places like this are being left to rot or demolished! It's wonderful to see one being put to such good use.

Wow, it's beautiful!
ReplyDeleteThis is so beautiful!! I found such a lovely abandoned building that I wish I could turn into a house, but it will be demolished quite soon, it's really sad!

ReplyDeleteI'd be waiting for a ghost around every corner!
ReplyDeletei really wonder how much work they had to do to get it into this livable state. it sure is charming!
ReplyDeleteOh, wow, what a lovely use of that space! The photographs certainly do it justice. I'm loving that they kept the peeled paint.
ReplyDeleteTruly Breathtaking! This is definitely newsworthy. Thanks for sharing

Wow that place looks fantastic! I love that he left the walls as-is like that.
ReplyDeleteI love his sensitive restoration. An Italian restaurant. I hope it's rustic in its styling.
ReplyDeleteI liked seeing how they kept the rawness of the space, the textures of the walls are great. My favorite feature is that long bar and that Icee sign in the kitchen!
ReplyDeleteWhat great pictures, and little sad at the time. Though myself am also a decadence junkie, still, when you think about it, abandoned places, walls that could tell a lot of stories about people who lived there, and now are staring empty.
ReplyDeleteoh my god, this is beautiful.
ReplyDeleteThese pictures are really amazing ! The light is just perfect ! Congrats !
ReplyDeletePlooom !
I love the way the lighting works complimenting the house and keeping the old feel that used to live there once. The living room picture looks almost animated, I can easily imagine people walking around with their drinks and chatting on the sofa. Gorgeous.
ReplyDeleteThose pictures are gorgeous! There's something very magical about that space, to be sure!
ReplyDeleteHow out of the ordinary. Beautiful and inspiring pictures especially for someone living in PARIS.

That is quite romantic! I too am a sucker for the nostalgia of the days of old! I live in a 1928 bungalow craftsman house! It's a gem (I am in love with the breakfast nook) :D
ReplyDeleteSo beautiful!
ReplyDeleteThat is amazing! I can't believe this space. It has a spooky/modern feel to it. Bravo!
ReplyDeleteThis looks like such an amazing place
ReplyDeleteI am obsessed with historic interiors... I'm writing my dissertation on Irish nineteenth-century interiors actually so I just love this post! The bathroom is my favourite.
