Valentine's Date

dress: vintage (Shareen's in LA)
coat: vintage (Goodwill in Harrisburg)
tights: Undercover
boots: vintage (Slow in LA)
purse: vintage (thrifted in B'ham, AL)
gloves: Old Navy

Normally I'm not one for celebrating Valentine's Day. It's just not really on my radar. We're still fairly new in town and don't really know too many people yet, so when a couple we just met extended an invitation for dinner we were happy to accept. And what to wear to a proper Valentine's dinner but a perfectly proper outfit complete with gloves and clutch. This coat is currently my favorite new vintage find. It's in mint condition and as my boyfriend put it, it is a true piece of Americana.

Thanks so much! This is one of those dresses that's been hanging in my closet for months and hasn't been worn. I'm glad I didn't end up selling it!

hey, that coat is amazing. you deserve to keep it :)

want to remind you to be on the look out for more of those fabulous military coats--the navy blue ones that are mid length and have beautiful anchor buttons on them. i cant wait to get my hands on one and you just sold one just a few months back! but who knows, maybe another military coat coming our way?

Alyssa - I'll keep my eye out. I never know what I'm going to find.

Ah, is that coat 'Mary Sacks'? You'll find a lot of high quality 50s and 60s clothing bearing that name in the Harrisburg area. It was the most post store in town - and the building is stll standing and still bears her name! But it's no longer a store. That coat is great! Was it in the bins?

Sarah: The tag in the coat says "Bowman Harrisburg". I'll have to keep an eye out for Mary Sacks. Sounds great! This coat was actually the first thing I saw when I walked in the door. I couldn't believe it was hanging there. Love at first sight. I found a navy and cream houndstooth coat in the bins. I can't wait to get back out there someday!
