The Snail & The Cyclops

Every month I like to highlight one source of fashion inspiration. This month it's been adorable Effie from The Snail & The Cyclops. I know I'm not the first person out here in the blogosphere to sing her praises but I just couldn't help myself! After looking through her photos I always end up craving prim skirts and dresses, vintage handbags and granny style ankle boots.

When ever someone asks me to define my style I always come up blank. I think this is because what I wear is so dependent on my moods and whims of the moment. I swing from one extreme to the other, at one moment looking like a 50's housewife, another looking a bit like Patti Smith. I've never been able (or willing really) to pin down one look for myself. But Effie definitely has a look all her own. She seems to have a natural talent for putting together looks that are decidedly vintage and modern all at once. And since she's opening an Etsy store we can all benefit from her eye for vintage fashions and accessories.

Very pretty Look. Sally Jane in june I´ll go to San Francisco on holidays, and I would like to buy some vintage clothes. Can you say me two or three vintage shops? Thank you!

Her stuff is always amazing! And I could totally relate to the switching around in style thing. It's just whatever floats my boat that day.

I adore Effie too. She always looks so polished and pulled-together. I don't think I can be that graceful and elegant 24/7.

Oh I know what you mean! I'm so un-definable in terms of my style. All over the shop. And Effie is gorgeous. I actually bought a pair of flat ankle boots because of her. They look waaaay less cool on my non-wiaf-like figure though...

oh she's so cute! I love the ankle sock with skirts look but I don't know if I can pull it off as well as she does.

Thanks for all your comments!

josh y lola: Hmmm... I've never lived in San Fran so I'm not sure about the vintage shops there. Maybe you could try to look them up online? Sorry I couldn't be more help. If you're ever visiting LA, then I'll have lots of tips for you!

Mina: Thanks for the link. I'll be sure to check out your blog and give you a link.

Thank you sooo sooo soooooo much for all this sweetness sent my way! It's funny you say that though - because I can't figure out what the heck my personal style is - I feel like I'm all over the place!!

I think I feel the same way about trying to define my style (though I think you're style is still more distinctive and cooler than mine)--it's so hard to quantify or point to any one thing.

Her vintage wear, however, is so very particularly her and so very wonderful. I envy it in a way & imagine it must be miles easier to shop when your look *is* so well defined.
