Decorative Vest

Sometimes I get fixated on random things that I'd like to find at a thrift store or vintage market. Right now I'm on the hunt for some type of little decorative vest to wear over t-shirts or dresses. So far, I haven't had any luck at all. So... I've turned my attention to Ebay to see what I can uncover. The real trick on Ebay seems to be knowing exactly what words to use in the search. After many attempts at searching with "decorative vest", "embroidered vest" and "beaded vest" I finally figured out the magic word. I searched "folk vest" and came up with exactly what I've been looking for. Apparently these pieces are quite collectable and go for pretty high prices on Ebay so I haven't placed a bid. I guess I'll have to keep searching.

if you type in "floral vest" you can come up with alot of stuff. that's what i did when i developed a similar fixation a while ago and went search crazy on ebay. I found a really sweet velvety floral vest.

try a ukrainian/polish dance costume source. those vests remind me an awful lot of the ones little girls dance in, and there should be a website somewhere for costumes.

Ethnic dance gear is definitely pricey though!

safiyeh: Thanks for the tip. I'll try that next time.

Effie: Who knew there could be more than one of those out there! Crazy!

Natasha: That's a great idea. Both of these vests were part of costumes. I'll have to do some google searching.

I was looking for sundresses on ebay and found a seller who had a tribal looking one:

Thought I'd pass it on...
Good luck hunting!

Not sure if it's your size, but here's one very similar to one you already posted. Starting bid is $25, and it ends tomorrow!

Folk yes!

Try searching Czech Folk costumes. They are pricey due to the amount of work that goes into them and the little material that can be found to make these pieces. Cedar Rapids, Iowa is home to Czech immigrants and these costume pieces can be easily found there. Again, they might be pricey. They are worth it....stunning in person.

If you see a good one on eBay, try sniping. You can always cancel that bid.

have you ever heard of the shop Bershka? They have one of those little jackets on sale in their store. I'm not sure if there's one in USA, but honestly there should be. IDK if this comment is any help but I thought I'd say so anyway. You can always get a UK blogger to buy you one, there's a Brshka store on oxford street.

this might not be quite right, but it's so cheap it's worth a shot:
