Ebay Woes

We all know what it's like to fall in love with something on Ebay and have someone else come in and swoop it up at the last second. Lately it seems that I've had this happen a lot. Mostly I just watch items and then forget to bid. Like I did with these cute white vintage maryjanes. How unique are they!? They sold for only $10.49. Oh well. I never wear white shoes anyway.

And then there was this pair of brown and white oxfords. I'd been planning whole outfits around these puppies for days. Up until the last hour they were going for $9.99 so I put in a bid and hoped that somehow I was miraculously the only person that had found the listing. Not so much. They ended up selling for $145! Holy wingtips, Batman.

I used to love going into fabric stores as a little girl and flipping through the pattern books that were on the counter. When I found an estate sale that had several of the old books up for auction I thought it would be so much fun to have one. I love the illustrations and could gather all sorts of inspiration from the pages. Apparently lots of other people thought they would be fun to have as well.

that sucks about all the Ebay loss.
Both pairs of shoes were phenomenal!

Oh well, you'll find sweet consolation thrifts I'm sure.

Oh, bad luck. :( That first pair of shoes are really cute! And the illustrations look nice too.

This post made me so sad.
If it makes you feel any better when I lose something on EBay that I have been dying for I usually find it while thrifting for a fraction of the cost - example - I almost bought a pair of Doc Martens for $70 on Ebay and the week after I was outbid I found the same ones at a secondhand store and I used store trade to buy them for $16.

I literally get so emo when I miss out on a great deal on ebay, or when something that seemed reasonable at first suddenly shoots up to an obscene price. I know your pain so well. :(

I get really upset on ebay sometimes. Its frustrating now with the software people use to buy things at the last minute. I had this happen one time for the most amazing tri colored, zip apart 80's knee hi boots and I was mad for days. However i just got the most amazing pair of brand new old stock, lace up wedges with peep toes, they are so granny and awesome. I guess as they say you win some, you lose some. But those losses do hurt sometimes.

I understand your ebay woes! Haha. I just started getting into buying on ebay and discovered tons of cool vintage stores, including yours. There was this beautiful Indian slouch that I knew would go perfect with so many of my items of clothing until other people had to bid way above my budget. I also bid on one of your items but I didn't realize how popular your store was! Snipers annoy me.

Losing out that bad on ebay does suck. A few years back, before bid sniping became so common, I'd often have a different problem that was just as bad: a bidder would set their proxy bid on an item and it would be going for however much until I found it. I'd bid on it and set the price higher, and I'd be the high bidder for a matter of hours or days

But then, that old bidder would come back and place a higher bid -- even though their original proxy bid was supposed to be the most they were willing top pay! People would get all emotional when they'd see someone else bidding on the thing they wanted. Anyway, hopefully you'll find shoes that are even awesomer at the Goodwill.

If it's not meant to be that's when the sales fall through (or atleast that's what I tell myself). :-)

The shoes on the first picture are amazing. Soooo beautiful and girlie.I am so sorry that you could not win them.
I do not wear white shoes, too. But I would make an exception for this particular pair.

BTW your blog is really cute.
I have added you to my blogroll, will you do the same for me?

I miss things on Ebay practically every day too! The shoes were fantastic :-(

Oh, and I'd love to be able to sew dresses from patterns. To sew dress in general, I should say...!

OK, this made me so sad for you, but also made me laugh. Because every time you update the store, there is at least one item that I know is going to be one of those heartbreaking losses for me. I've never won an auction of yours, because of snipers and because a lot of items just go for a LOT more than I can afford.

aww, I know exactly how you feel :( this has happened to me a lot aswell. I was bidding on this purple dress like a month ago I think, in your store. I was the high bidder until the last hour. I was SO in love with the dress I decided "fine, I'll start playing on seconds" but my computer went nuts and I couldn't bid until it was too late, the other girl got the dress :( I was terribly devastated, luckily I won the auction on a clutch purse you offered the same day :)

I have to admit, I've been the one to snap things on the last minute aswell. A week ago, I won a black avant garde dress on sallyjanevintage and I know another girl must have really wanted it too, we were really competing. So if she's reading it right now, I'm sorry, hope you weren't too sad! :(
