Lately, I've really been inspired by the romanticized circus fashion editorials I've seen popping up in magazines. The latest issue of NEET Magazine featured one of my favorites. Shot by Courtney Brooke (another huge inspiration for me), it features girls romping through a magical setting of big tops, dressed as the high wire artist, bareback riders and trapeze artists that would have been featured in circuses past.

Watch Carnivale! But ignore the strange religious plot line. The costume and set design are done perfectly!
(but don't watch it before bed)
Oooh! Great idea. I haven't seen it but I"m betting the costumes are exactly what I have in mind.
I love the NEET editorial. It's fantastical without being creepy. I don't know if I'd ever wear those TopShop pieces, but I can't stop looking at them!
oh my goodness, how did you get access to topshop create the solutions site??! lucky luck. i work for them and i don't even get to looksee
asiancajuns: I agree. There are really only a couple of pieces that I would like to work into my wardrobe, but I can't stop looking at them either.
mat ahoy: Working for Topshop sounds like a good gig. Hopefully you get a nice, fat discount. As far as getting access, just a little old-fashioned cyber sleuthing did the trick.
I just discovered your awesome blog! I love your style and the photos. So, I was just wondering if it was be possible for you to tell me how you make your photos look as great as they are? :) I read you use Photoshop, but how do you do it? I'm so in love with the style your "What I'm wearing" -photos have, it really compliments your look. :)
veeraveera: Thanks so much! I'm glad you found the blog. As you read, I do use Photoshop to edit my photos. Each one is a bit different depending on the original photo and the look I want to achieve so there's really no "recipe" I can give you. I use a variety of layers and filters that I've come up with so my suggestion would be to play around in photoshop until you achieve something that you really like that can become your signature look for your photos. Again, thanks for reading!
Hey! I've been scurring your site for awhile now and all the flea and thrift bargains you got are really incredible!:) All your creations are wonderous as well! But one question burning to ask ya. Which state of the US are you located at? Penns? Thankyou! :)
Miu Miu always gets it right, oh to have a wardrobe full of Miu Miu!
I loved that editorial in N.E.E.T magazine, but I think your little collage is spot on. You should email Stephanie J!

AH! That editorial is to DIE for. I love it. Thank you for sharing it!
I love how dreamy the NEET editorial is. I really like the ringmaster jacket from Topshop. That reminds me, I've got to start making my list of things I want for fall!
i love the editorial photographs, i never see a copy of NEET magazine and can't thank you enough for showing such whimsical delights!
as for the Topshop collection, having seen it before I agree that it fits in perfectly with the current circus styling, but that harlequin dress is a gem: whimsical enough to be fun, yet structured enough to be elegant and serious in the fashion world. i can't wait to see it "in the flesh", so to speak.
i have just recently begun reading your blog, and enjoy it greatly, thank you for such lovely posts! i envy the lovely climate your photographs show, living in Scotland makes outdoor outfit photography a difficulty, and even indoors can be a challenge with such bad lighting! ha ha.
wow, top shop's collection is very miu miu. and the neet magazine editorial is fantastic. balloons and fashion are so perfect.
The retro posters are lovely lovely lovely and your pics are great!!!
