Come sail your ships around me...

[1]
photos by Tom b.

top: floral 50's blouse (trying to inject a little spring into my outfit)
skirt: wool 60's skirt
sweater: wool 50's cardigan
tights: UO (I think)
shoes: Seychelles
belt & beret: vintage
purse: swap with Francesca
listening to: Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds The Good Son "The Ship Song"

This week when I went vintage shopping for the store I ran across a large collection of pretty wool and velvet skirts. The mustardy-gold one I'm wearing today is one of them. I've got skirts coming out my ears so I'm selling most of them, including the one in the photo. It's just a smidgen too big for me. I guess that's a good thing because otherwise I might be tempted to keep it.

I mentioned yesterday that I'd been tagged a few times to do a "random things about me" post. I can't remember who all tagged me but I know that Morgan from Ambrosia's Musings was the last so I'm going to use her rules. Here are seven random things about me...
  • I don't drink any caffeine. No coffee, no Coke, no tea. Ever.
  • I love brussels spouts. For lunch I would like to have brussels sprouts with a side of brussels sprouts, please.
  • When I was a little girl I collected figurines of unicorns.
  • I have what looks like a tiny tattoo on the little finger of my left hand. It's actually a mark left from a time when I was working in an office and was trying to fix a copy machine. My hand got stuck and when I pulled it out, I cut my finger which was covered in powered copy toner. The toner would never come out of the cut, thus the permanent mark.
  • I cry very easily. Happy, sad, angry... always equals tears.
  • I have dreams about tornadoes all the time. The tornadoes in my dreams are always really tall and skinny and bounce around on the ground.
  • I am currently hopeless addicted to 90210 reruns on the Soap Network. I never even realized it was on the air for 10 years. Now I have to know... will Kelly and Dylan ever work things out?!?

I also have dreams about tornadoes. However mine will sometimes be huge, as big as a city and sometimes they chase and engulf me and other times the tornadoes are just there causing no problems, just moving down a street as if it were a prop in a movie.

I don't drink cafeine too, neither coffee nor tea. As for coke...I had the last one at JFK airport more than two years ago, so...!

On 90210: if I can remember Kelly gets married with Brandon in the series finale...

I have dreams about tall/skinny tornadoes too! So creepy. In mine there are always about 15 coming at once. eep! Anyway, I love the color of that skirt! Especially paired with that blouse. Adorable.xx

I adore brussel sprouts also. And I adore your sense of style and because of that I want to give you my all time BEST brussel sprout recipe. It will blow your mind (and taste buds).

The link below is from one of my favorite vegetarian chefs. Her food is clean, delicious and so lovely to look at. Kinda like you Sally Jane.

Please enjoy.

I can't go near caffeine either! Those are some pretty good random things by the way, I always have trouble thinking up things that are a bit different and not obvious. I really like the skirt too!

Thanks so much for doing the tag! oh my, the unicorns. i think we all had a thing or two with unicorns. mine was in poster form.. with rainbows. in speaking of rainbows.. didn't rainbow bright ride a unicorn? lucky little character.
I love your outfit here! the clouds were neat looking on thursday and friday.. until rain came out of them. :-) I actually tried on a blouse that looked like this at the goodwill, minus the orange bits. Have a good weekend!

Thank you for all of your comments!

Ryder: All the adventure I had was trying to get in out of the rain. ;)

Scramble: Aren't tornado dreams strange? Yours sound super scary.

Alice: I haven't had caffeine in about 10 years. I don't miss it now. On 90210 Brandon has left the show so I think Kelly will end up with Dylan. How sad that I care. ;)

Proudly Says: Thanks for stopping by my blog. I'll be sure to stop by yours as well.

Lauren: Yes! There are always multiple tornadoes in my dream too!

Coppertop: Wow! Thanks for the recipe. I'll definitely have to try that.

Jayne: Thanks! Good luck giving up caffeine. Some people say it's harder than quiting smoking. Nasty stuff.

Eulalia: That's a good explanation for tornado dreams. I always dream about them after seeing them on TV or hearing about them on the news.

Denise: Thanks! I've never been a coffee drinker but I always think it smells so good.

Frances Baker: Thanks! Even a little caffeine makes me feel like I'm about to explode. I know what you mean!

Andrea: Thanks! I do seem to be a bit addicted to these berets.

Ohphillipa: Thanks! It's such a cheesy show to watch but it's nice to have some mindless entertainment now and then.

Morgan: No problem! I was happy to do it. Yes, the unicorns were out of hand when I was a kid. I'm laughing imagining your posters. I remember them well!

I never drink caffeine either!! Unless it's in chocolate, which really can't be helped. Chocolate is necessary, I love it as much as you love brussels sprouts :~)

Well, I just love stalking your blog and had to comment on the tornado/90210 post... I must agree with Eulalia and the the anxiety that brings my tornado dreams.. I didn't realize they were so common. I had them so often until I met my country sangin husband and he swept me off to Nashville.

I unfortunately was there obsessed for ALL the 90210 years.. right along with Party of Five... THank God for LOST, what would I do without that hotty Matthew Fox..

oh... and as far as brussel sprouts go... 12 years ago my wusband made me Salmon from Trader Joe's and brussel sprouts... I got so ill, (he didn't ...hmmmm...) that I was sick for 24 hours straight.. nice... so I've never eaten once since... sad our relationship had to end that way.. me and the Brussel sprout that is...

Eva said...

Wow,
You like Brussel sprouts, I'm from Belgium and I don't even want to eat them. I just stick to chocolat and cherry beer.

Wait... I thought it was Kelly & Brandon...? I hate 90210, but then I can't stop watching it when it's on!
