I've been feeling a bit nostalgic for Southern summers - the air thick and still with humidity, heat lightning in the night sky, fireflies hovering over the ground. There's something about
Susana Raab's series of Southern writers' homes that perfectly captures the essence of the south.

I know how you're feeling! I miss southern summers too, Maine is not the place for me. Lovely photos! :o)
i LOVE these!!
I'm a sucker for square, older looking photos.
xo
Oh I love the books!
It's funny, one of the things I always associate so much with summer is that electric, heat, cotton-candy stifling thunderstorm air! I really miss it at my old house, where the trees were really dense and they got all scary!
Thanks for sharing :)
these are beautiful.
I love your description-- I miss them too! Luckily I will begin my summer in the south in exactly two weeks :)

Fireflies hovering over the ground? Sounds magical..
i always fond for southern life!
These make me feel nostalgic about something I've never even experienced! I can feel the mood though, my childhood summers sounds quite similar at the ones you described :-)
I should've known they'd all be from Mississippi! I will never understand people's fascination with Faulkner, but his house is beautiful, I walk to it a lot in the summer, through the woods when the weather is nice. At least until it gets so hot and humid that the sun seems to beat you down when you walk outside, but June is nice; thousands of fireflies and great big blustery thunderstorms rolling through woods and cotton fields.
I'm loving those pictures so much..I adore the light in the last picture ! Thx for sharing those, this photographer is so talented !
JUst Adore the pictures, the photography done by the artist is just stunning!
Great Blog.
xx.
One of my favorite photo series!
Those photos are beautiful, and so familiar. I grew up in South Alabama, and now I'm in Nashville. Nashville isn't southern to me at ALL. I miss home.
