Hemlines

I've always heard that hemlines are a good indicator of the economic times in which we live. The shorter the hemlines, the better. When the market crashes, the hemlines come tumbling down. I suppose that means we should all be wearing mini skirts in hopes that it will be some sort of self-fulfilling prophecy. At least we'd be in good company...

Great pictures.I've found the older I've gotten the more comfortable I am with shorter hemlines. Go figure now that I'm post 30. Love your blog. So inspiring.

The tights halfway down are amazing. Shame you rarely find vintage hose or tights.

I'm always fascinated with how world affairs affects fashion. But didn't people wear shorter dresses during the Depression because fabric was too expensive? That's what I thought before... minidresses just seem more economical!

The sixties were byfar the best era for fashion. Ya got Twiggy, Edie, like all the major icons.

I wonder if that's why maxi-dresses are coming back in fashion in a big way. What a fabulous collage of images... thanks for finding them.

The mini's that people wore back then were beautiful and just so much fun. It really reflects the fun of their youth culture!

In my opinion those times were great. Okey, there were some problems, but we have them too?! So.. there is no difference. ;)

I wish women still dressed this nicely to go to the races. Now it's tacky, shimmery, neon coloured frocks.
ah well...
