Best. Editorial. Ever.
Whenever I'm asked about my number one fashion inspiration it always comes back to one thing; Faye Dunaway in Bonnie and Clyde. I love the pencils skirts and the oxford shoes! And you know I love me some berets! All the dust bowl fashion coupled with the 60s hair and makeup of that film... it makes my heart flutter every time. (Here's Tom and I doing our best Bonnie and Clyde back in '08)
So... when I discovered this editorial from the March 2010 issue of Harper's Bazaar I officially had to give it the Best Editorial Ever award. I know, I know. Some people are already hatin' on it because it's such a literal interpretation but I don't care. It's perfect in my book. Please bear with me and the following onslaught of photos. I couldn't bring myself to edit out a single one.

Me too! I keep a picture of Faye as Bonnie on my desktop. What a great editiorial, so right on the money.
Thanks for posting these pics... This is probably the best editorial in a major magazine I've seen in a year (seriously)...Love the scarves and ruffled blouses!
I just adore your blog !
I could leave a comment in every single post!
IHeartYOU!
Have a nice weekend!
I love when magazines do photo spreads that actually have a visible story in them (one that's easy to follow along and not hard to guess at). Totally love this one! Thanks for sharing and have a lovely weekend : )
a-freaking-mazing!
I went and saw Bonnie and Clyde this summer at the drive-in for the first time. Definitely a perfect summer drive-in flick.
LOVE those shoes "Bonnie" has on by-the-way! Thanks for sharing!
Gorgeous editorial! I don't care a bit that it's such a literal interpretation - to me that just shows how timeless the style in that movie was.
I watched Bonnie and Clyde when I was maybe 13 or 14 and it didn't leave much of an impression. Of course, I wasn't much interested in film or fashion then. It's past time for me to give it another try. :)
Oh my gosh!!!SSSSSooooooooo great. Mmmm yes yes yes! Thank you for sharing! Love your Halloween version, too :)
New Lula is out in the uk- can't wait to read it!

I'm with you: I love it!
OH LOR' I LOVE THAT EDITORIAL! my word it's beautiful!
...also the most cliché!
I love all the glamourized versions of B&C, mostly because in real life, they were very sticky and had very bad hygene. I hope that when I'm dead and gone, after I robbed banks and murdered, the public will glamorize me and make me into a perfect fashion icon. Also a quick thank you for all your great posts, I really love stopping by your blog.
The clothes are fab ! You know that they're making a new Bonnie and Clyde film, right ? And that Bonnie will be played by (OGOD)..... Hilary Duff. Tragedy.
How can something so unoriginal be "the best?"
I finally got around to seeing this movie and it is life changing! I am out of words to describe how much I love it! I don't care what people say, I love the literal translation of this editorial probably because I love the movie so much!

I'm gonna have to agree, this is awesome.
Check out the giveaway on my blog!
I love the Bonnie inspiration as well. I never really thought the dust bowl had fashion. Kinda one of those, the clothes on your back type deals. I suppose it turned out to be.
So beautiful!
I can definitely see the connection between your personal style and your inspiration.
To dress as beautifully as this, I would HAVE to rob a bank or two! The clothes are really beautiful and so perfect for the theme.
oh my gosh totally agree. AMAZING!
really incredible editorial! thanks for sharing.

Have a great weekend!
I mean Harper's, not Elle. Elle is the one I bought off the newsstand. duh :P
Gah! This rules so much! <3
I too was pretty excited about this editorial, thank you for posting the pics! You are right, the 1987 film is amazing, and Faye Dunaway is a total sexpot. They did a great interpretation with a fresh face. Your blog is the best!!
