Dynamite Delightful Dozen Dress
photos by Tom b.
- Dynamite Dress courtesy of Modcloth
- vintage Jordache jeans
- 70s woven sandals
- favorite vintage cardigan
- vintage Coach purse
- vintage knit beret
The lovely folks over at Modcloth were kind enough to send the Delightful Dozen gals their Dynamite Dress to style. I have to be honest and say when I took the dress out of the package my first thought was, "Where's the rest of it?!" It is S to the H to the O-R-T!
I was determined to wear it in a spring-friendly sort of way. It's such a bright and cheerful piece I didn't want to dull it down with tights and too many layers but I also knew one slight breeze and I'd be showing my unmentionables to the masses. No good. So... I just tucked the bottom ruffle into a pair of vintage jeans and voila! It's a cute blouse instead!

that's a really good way to style it, and it looks great on you!!
Aww. Haha this is a problem the taller ones have with the dress! But hey, you styled it really well. Glad to see you in jeans!
It does make a very sweet top! What a cool idea, I love all your pants outfit pics because you give me great ideas!
This is so cute as a shirt!!! When I looked at where you got it and it said "dress" I had to look at your picture...twice! Then I giggled when I read the rest of your post!
Uh, in love with that brown leather bag! ;0)
Since you hardly ever wear pants, I was a bit surprised you styled the dress this way, but it looks amazing!
i love sandals+jeans+bag :) and cardigan+hat, but the floral dress..donno...
Nicely put together!
I love that you tucked in the bottom ruffle. That was such a great idea instead of having to just settle to wear it as a tunic for us taller girls. I had the same thought when I pulled out the dress. Way to short! You really made it work though! You look great!
This looks fab, i love your styling.
Feel free to browse my blog, i have a give away of one of my designs planned in the next month or so. So don't forget to follow :)

that is NO dress! . . but I only wear dresses as short to go right above my knees. that's insane. I saw all the other girls in the "dress" too. How tall are you? I'm 5 foot 9 and that would NEVER work for me. haha.
I love what you did with it!
I love everything about this outfit. Wonderful!

You look so nice and so hippie :)
Honestly, I'm not the hugest fan of this dress, but you made it look really cute as a top!! Miracle worker, right here!

I've been watching this dress all around the blogging world. I am so happy to see a tall gal style it. I feel like everything is so short and its been making me so sad, youve changed my mind on that!
I always run into that problem with ModCloth, Urban, and Forever21. They have such cute dresses, yet they aren't made for taller people. It's sad. At least you are resourceful and made it into a cute blouse.
Haha that is such a great idea! I honestly would have never thought of that.
I've been loving your blog lately!

I really like the print of this dress.
Yeah I've seen the other Delightful Dozen wear it, and it is certainly v e r y short. But the hat & cuffed jeans are tres cute. You made it work! :)
Love how you chose to style this one! I think I may even like it more as a top.
super cute!
that's really suppose to be a dress?! geez louise! regardless, you look awesome, love your purse and shoes :D
I love how you styled this! I've seen all of the other versions, but here I would've never knew it was a dress if I didn't see it on the other ladies! Super cute! :)
Love the casual take you did on this dress. Well, if you consider it a dress on us taller folk...
i am personally not a fan of really short dresses/skirts and it seems like all of the cute ones are super short... yikes! so, it's really nice to see someone style this so differently! besides i am a jeans kinda girl anyway!! haha! the look is so perfect for early spring too! love it!
I love how you can creatively style garments by changing their entire purpose like this. I think that's a mark of really versatile and and unique style. But it seems to me that it would feel odd wearing a dress the "wrong way." Does it ever? Is there a secret to pulling it off well?
what a great idea to just tuck in the last ruffle and turn it into a totally darling spring-y top! you clever girl, you!
p.s. LOVE those jeans and sandals.
you look fabulous! and I love 'carmel' accessories, yours are beautiful, especially the purse!
wow, great idea.... love the way you styled it :)

that top is beautiful on you!! I love the red and the browns together!
Short indeed! I love the rolled up jeans and how you accesorized with brown!
It looks amazing the way you styled it! I'm 5'3 and it was even short on me - I was wondering how you taller girls might style it! And I love it! :)
Those vintage Jordache jeans are so cute! I want :)
I love all your pants outfit pics because you give me great ideas!

It's so fun to see how all of you have styled this dress!
I want to run in your closet and steal all of it and call it my own! This look is amazing!
I love LOVE this look on you... I like finding people wearing outfits that are fabulous yet something I would actually wear in *real* life... lol. It's kind of fun how your belt and bag match your hair... hmm! Great splash of color with your top. :) Thank you for sharing, once again!
