I've gone on and on about my love for all things Jane Birkin on this blog before so it's no surprise that a few weeks ago when I read Anabela from Field Guided's post on Jane's basket purse I bookmarked it for future reference. This morning when I was trying to think of something interesting to blog about (that's the hardest part some days!), I remembered the post about the basket and thought y'all would like it too.
You can catch a peek of the basket at the beginning of the video above. Jane was also snapped quite a few times about town carrying the basket as a purse. Turns out it's a traditional Portuguese fishing or octopus basket. The Feitoria shop has one available here. I think it makes a very nice summer purse or picnic basket.

Love Jane Birkin! And the basket is so sweet :)
Basket purses are a huge tradition in Nantucket. Women flock the streets with baskets and lily pulitzer dresses. Each is decorated with whale ivory (the modern ones are fake ivory)

Love her and I see George Harrison, teehee.
That's definitely something I could immediately adopt! This summer I should replace my beloved canvas bags I use for groceries (all from festivals of cinema I went to) with a straw basket!!
So glad you liked that post! xo
now THAT is what i call a birkin bag. no second mortgage and no waitlist!
yes, much more affordable than a birkin! i love the photo of her and baby :)
