Meet My Future Bathing Suit

A couple of summers ago I went on a vintage bathing suit hunt and came up with a few possible winners. Unfortunately it turned out that each had issues. One had weird bra cup thingies that looked lumpy no matter what I did to them, one had lost all of its elasticity and sagged in all the wrong places, one was super itchy. Needless to say none of them ever saw the beach. I gave up and decided I would just have to buy a new bathing suit. My hunt for a cute, demure one piece left me empty handed. I finally settled for a 70's style one piece from AA. I wore it exactly one time to a party at the pool on top of The Standard hotel in LA. Let's just say those types of parties aren't exactly for swimming. They are mostly for lounging around and looking cute in a bikini. Not really my thing. And let's also say that the AA bathing suit isn't really built for getting wet and holding everything in place and leave it at that.

Imagine my delite when I was browsing through Urban Outfitters site and came across an entire collection of vintage style one pieces. My favorite has to be the navy and red sailor inspired one but they have solids, florals, polka dots and even gingham. Super cute!

What I Actually Wore

t-shirt: thrifted
jeans: Superfine
scarf, boots, bag: vintage
jacket: H&M

OK, so sometimes a girl changes her mind. Or the weather changes it for her. I really wanted to wear the floral romper but when I thought about having to walk home after the show I was afraid I would be cold and there's not much that I hate as much as I hate being cold. So I changed into my standard of jeans, tee and boots. As you can see (sort of) I finally scored a wolf tee from the boy's department of the thrift store.

What I'm Wearing

romper: vintage (if I'm not careful I'm going to have to change the name of this blog to Rompers 'R Us)
shirt: American Apparel
boots: vintage
jacket: H&M

I had plans today that included wearing a pretty 50's dress I found at the thrift store and walking to the farmer's market to buy some fresh, local produce. The skies, it seems, had other plans. The constant downpour of rain kept me glued to the couch in my pj's watching episodes of old TV shows on Hulu. Oh well. Maybe tomorrow the weather will cooperate. Tonight my boyfriend and I are going to a benefit show at a local club to see Slimfit. Here's what I'm wearing. I guess you could say it's a little bit country and a little bit rock 'n roll.

More Posting at Sally Jane Vintage

Here are the rest of the auctions I'm feverishly working on. I think I've given up on trying to get them posted today so they'll be up tomorrow afternoon instead. Thanks again for stopping by!

Today at Sally Jane Vintage

Once again, here's a peek at the items going up in the store later today. Several rompers (as promised) and lots of ditsy florals too! And can I just say, that salmon maxi dress is a-ma-zing! I just wanted to float around the house in it all day. I'll also be listing some shoes but I haven't taken those photos yet. Better get to work. Thanks as always for stopping by!

suspenders, scarf, hat & sunglasses: H&M

I had on a cute dress this morning but right before I left the house I threw on these odds and ends instead. I'm on my way to the thrift store and wanted to be able to crawl around and get dirty if need be. I'll let you know what I find!

Mamalicious and Smilin' Gal

After dropping off my packages at the post office this afternoon the weather was so darn nice I didn't want to go home quite yet. Instead I wandered over to Queen Street where all the cute little vintage shops are located. My favorite is a two in one shop, Mamalicious and Smilin' Gal Vintage. The place is over flowing with amazing vintage finds all at very fair prices. I never fail to see a dozen or so things that I want to take home. Today it was a set of four vintage Pyrex nesting bowls, his and hers vintage paint-by-number portraits of Jesus and Mary, a pair of vintage Givenchy sunglasses, an oversized woven leather bag and a feathered hat. I was good and didn't buy anything! But I did take the time to try on some of their adorable vintage dresses. The white crochet one is from the 60's and came with matching crochet bell bottoms (you can see them hanging on the door behind me). The blue is from the 50's and is so sweet. It tempted me the most but like I said, I was good!
