Cheap Monday Jeans

I am so confounded about Cheap Monday jeans. I bought a pair last year when they came in to the store where I work. I'd seen them on many of the street fashion blogs and was really excited to try them out. I got a pair in dark black in my usual size. They seemed stiff but I figured a wash or two would help. To my dismay, no matter how many times I wore and washed them, they remained so stiff and uncomfortable I couldn't wait to take them off at the end of the day. If it's possible for a pair of jeans to make you feel claustrophobic, these jeans did just that. I ended up selling them on EBay.

I guess my memory of how much I hated them is wearing off because I'm beginning to reconsider them. Blame it on the Scandinavians. I love the way the jeans look in these photos. Super skinny with high waists, they look good with boots or flats, with shirt tucked in or left hanging out.

Now that the jeans are readily available at Urban Outfitters I'm really tempted to give them another shot. Maybe mine were just stiff because I bought the dark black rinse. Maybe the lighter ones would be softer. Maybe I just need to wash them with some fabric softener. Maybe I'm crazy for even considering it.

I have a pair that are totally comfy, they are quite a light rinse. There are also so many different Cheap Monday cuts... give them a shot again. My only complaint about mine is that since they ARE soft, the knees are starting to get a little lumpy and funny looking. I'm hoping a wash will fix that.

I actually have the same problem! Maybe I just have a big behind, but their jeans (esp. the high waisted ones)are quite uncomfortable and look really weird on me. Those beautiful scandanvian girls makes them look soo good though..

I've spoken to other people who think the lighter washes are more comfortable. Maybe that's the route I need to do. If I try some more, I'll let you know what I think!

I agree with miss woo. I love other people in skinny jeans, but am not sure that my body type works with that trend very well.

Just for reference, I'm a guy with a fairly slender frame (5'9", 120 lbs). I have a few pairs...all are different washes. The lighter wash I wear the most because it is the most comfortable. I also have a 'tight' dark rinse as well as the standard fitting black rinse. I feel as if the darker rinses are indeed 'stiffer' but not so much that I feel uncomfortable in them. They are easily my favorite brand of jeans because they look amazing (the high-waistedness makes my legs look so much longer!) and are only $65...cheaper than what I've paid for lower quality jeans (like American Apparel's slim slacks >> $68 - $74). My wife (who is only 5 feet tall and about 90 lbs) also owns a tight/dark rinse pair and swears by them. I say give them another chance!! :)

At this point I'm at least convinced that I should try on a lighter rinse pair. I've also seen the new black satin ones that I'd like to try. Thanks for all the input!

I'm a guy and I really like the 'stiff' ones that Cheap Monday makes. But I'm a guy and I wear them, so I definitely recommend that you give them a second chance. I think I look good in them so you'll probably look amazing!!

They're stiff because they're raw denim and it's supposed to be that way!

I'm a guy, and Cheap Monday is possibly the best jeans brand in existence. They offer raw denim at incredibly cheap prices, ($40-$45 on clearance!)and their fit is great. Their regular fit doesn't have a really low waist like most fashionable guy's jeans, and they are great for a really slim guy like me who wants long, slim jeans with a mid/high waist.

As to their fit, because of the nature of raw denim (look it up)you have to fiddle around to find the right size for you.
For example: I wear a size 30 waist on all other pants, but with the Cheap Monday regular fit, I have to order the 28x34, which shrinks to 30x34 AFTER it has been washed. This apparently does not hold for all of their cuts though, so be careful.

So, great jeans, but you have to be very careful to find the right fit.
