H&M Dresses

Yesterday I was a bit stir crazy in my apartment so I decided to get out for a bit. I spent the afternoon people watching and enjoying a grande soy hot chocolate and a huge piece of coffee cake. After that I amused myself by trying on some dresses at H&M. Note to self: next time try on dresses before the snacking.

First up was this strapless dress. I loved the simple cut and color (black is always going to be my first choice I think). It has pockets which is a definite plus. The problem was breathing, something I am quite fond of. I understand a strapless number needs to be tight as to not fall down, but I could barely move in this. NEXT!

The H&M in my town does not carry any of the Trend line - mostly the Divided line and what I refer to as the "business casual" section. That's where I was surprised to find this dress. I love the mod style and the simple color palette of black and cream. It would be better if it had pockets and was about four inches shorter. I'm not a fan of the "to the knee" length but since I found with all the other businessy clothes I guess they were making it office appropriate.

Last, I tried on the dress that everyone seems to be talking about. They did not have it in my size so I tried it on several sizes too big just to get an idea for it. I have to say I was not instantly in love with it but I didn't realize before picking it up it is one of their $19 dresses. I figured it was going to have a $40 price tag at least. The fabric is super light and silky and for $19, if I ever find it in my size, I could see giving it a go.

I like the first dress, and that maxi dress I've noticed many girls on other blogs bought, looks so pretty, and now that I've heard it's price, I'm even more sad there's no H&M in my country, I don't know why, cause people here love labels like that and would shop there...

I agree: the first dress is awesome! What a great fit.

I also tried the maxi dress but I looked strange wearing it.

I don't understand all the fuss about that maxi-dress , they could do better with another pattern.

I'm in love with the strapless dress! Pitty you couldn't move in it :D

I didn't even get to try on the maxi dress because it sold out so quickly. It looks great on you though for the $19 price tag why not buy it in your size. Also the first dress looks great but I agree that breathing is important:)

"The problem was breathing, something I am quite fond of." Made me smile. =) 1st dress is lovely, doesn't push boundaries or follow the latest trends but it will always look good and is timeless.
i agree with you on the 2nd, i just can't wear long dresses or skirts.
i've seen the maxi dress on other blogs too, it looks good on you!

The last dress is gorgous!! I hope you find your size and buy it! I can't work it with long dresses, only in weddings - too bad.. Bet you can tough!

the middle dress is my favorite!

I know what you mean about snacking before a dressing room...the worst!

I would kill for that ruffly mod dress you are wearing.

i bought that middle dress sunday! i totally agree that its too long so i took a black piece of fabric (sort of like a belt) and tied it just under the white part of the dress and folded it over. it looks totally normal and is def. better shorter.

we don't get the trend line either! The salespeople always look at me as if I'm insane when I ask.

I love the second dress, a bit bossy but it's so cool! In my hometown they don't have the trend line either, and where I am living at the moment, there isn't H&M... really hard!!!

Oh I own that first dress. I love it, but I'm not sure what to wear it with. I don't want it to just be a "special occaision" dress. Any suggestions?

What size is the first dress, 36?
