Shoe Switcheroo

Untitled-1

I’ve been on the lookout for a pair of brown stacked heel oxfords for quite a while. I love the idea of pairing them with black tights and dresses but I’ve never been able to find a pair. That is until a couple of weeks ago. When I was in Alabama collecting vintage goodies to bring home to sell I ran across the pair on the left. Perfect! They were everything I was looking for; a rich brown leather with lots of perforated detailing and sturdy stacked heels. The problem? They’re a bit too big! I took photos of them to sell but hadn’t actually convinced myself to put them in the store. I figured I could try all the old tricks like putting in insoles and wearing thick tights so I could keep them for myself. That is until I went to the flea market on Saturday. Luckily I found the pair on the right in just my size. So… I’ll be putting the first pair I found in the store on Thursday. I’m sure they’ll find a good new home.

Those are gorgeous.
Really.
I like the heals on the ones you are keeping better. More narrow at the bottom, while still being substantial.

Thanks so much for your comments!

I love both of these shoes and I"m so happy that one of them fits me. The ones on the left are about a size 8. I'll have to double check that though. It'll be in the listing on Thursday of course.

Are they vintage (the ones for sale)? Is there a significant difference between vintage and modern shoe sizes?

Oh they are both lovely! I've been hunting for a pair as well, but 6.5 is not an easy size to find it seems.

Terrific find - it's hard to find a good quality pair - congrats!

Thanks again everyone!

annie: Yes, they are vintage. Vintage shoe sizes do tend to run a bit smaller than modern shoe sizes. When I post the auction I will list the measurements of the shoe in inches.

Both of the shoes are really interesting in their own ways; the left pair because of it's glowing colour and the right pair because of the heels. Your blog is great inspiration :D!

How exactly do you measure shoe sizes? And I am in love with the first pair, hopefully I can bid!

sunset: All measurements are taken with a flexible measuring tape along the outside sole of the shoe and are listed in inches. Thanks!

where in Alabama did you find these?

teenvoguette: I'm from Birmingham so whenever I'm home I hit up all of the local thrift stores.
