Anna Karina

a

I really don't know that much about Anna Karina and her career. For some reason I always got her name mixed up with Anna Karenina. I know there's a vast sea of difference between the French actress and Tolstoy but that just goes to demonstrate my first point. I'm not sure when I first ran across a photo of her, which instantly prompted me to search for more photos, but I've been saving them in a little folder ever since with thoughts of doing a whole post about her when I got a chance.

Well, I still haven't learned that much about her (I suppose I should make my way over to her wiki page) but in recent days I've had hair on the mind. By that I mean that I'm coming to the end of my summer-hair-growin'-bonanza and I'm already itching to get it cut. Several of you have comment on my last couple of posts about just how long it's getting. It hasn't been this long in my entire adult life. Some day I'll have to dig out old photos from the days when my hair was pixie short (and platinum blond) or worse, the high school era Wilson Phillips inspired do. Yikes!

When I really started to look for photos to take to a hairdresser I was coming up short until I ran across my Anna Karina folder. I had a total eureka moment. This is the hair I want! I realize it's not too much of a diversion from my current style, but I could certainly stand to lose a few inches here and there. Mostly I want to learn to do that 60s style poof in the back. I'm sure it probably involves some hairspray and teasing but I've never really had much skill in the hair-fixin' department. I think I need to consult with Hannah and find out all of her secrets.

I adore her! I'm growing my hair out to be just like that. It might take a year or so, but at least now I have bangs! :o)

oooh, gorgeous! I didn't realize this when I got it cut, but I think we have pretty much the exact same hair. I also like long hair in the summer, even though it's so much less practical.

well for a start she is originally from Denmark but moved to france at 18. she has been married to godard. If you like her style you'll love une femme est une femme and pierrot est fou, both directed by godard. she is so magnificent and beatiful!

The pic on the last row, the one of Karina and Godard...I don't know why, but I heart it. I saved it in my pc long ago and I can't help to look at it again and again.

L'Oreal Elnett is the ONLY way to get that hair and have it look and feel perfect... Seriously, if I had hair right now, I'd be using my can instead of looking at it longingly. (You can get it at Target, it's about $16, but SOOO worth it. Favorite of stylists/fashionistas/etc. for years, and just barely started being available in the states last year)

Anna Karina just came to Melbourne fot the Melbourne International Film Festival! I'm kicking myself that I didn't get tivkets in time to hear her talk. There's a nice little mini interview with her on her style in the latest Russh.

I got to see her in Melbourne, she's is still very stylish and had a lovely 60's coff hair.

OMG she is the most amazing woman ever. And the lady in the banner on my blog. Watch her films, she's unbelievably charming and perfection personified.

When I saw her in Melbourne recently, Anna Karina reminded me of Bridget Bardot. A bit sort of worn and faded, someone who has not aged well. Their exquisite beauty in their youth makes the comparision even more jarring.
However, having said that I admired the fact they don't do Botox or plastic surgery.

both the French one and the Russian Anna K are great ...

Ah - she is pretty darn perfect.

Vivre Sa Vie is one of my very favorite movies, with Une Femme Est Une Femme just behind it.

I think you really just need a little "rat" (this is what my mom has called them) or hairpiece doodad to achieve the cute bump.

I can't pull of the entire Anna-look, but I do usually have her eyeliner and little front of ear cheek-curl goin' on. ;)

Haha I too couldn't distinguish the names and I am bad in the hair department. Mmm, I think your hair would look lovely in a 60s do.

I know she's become kind of cliche, but I still think she's adorable. I really resent the fact that I look deeply stupid with bangs. Oh well!

This is going to sound completely bizarre, but I discovered your blog the other day (love it), and was showing it to my husband Saturday night (Aug 29). I was comparing my hair to yours (very similar length/cut), and trying to decide how I want to get it cut next, and he started talking about Anna Karina's hair, and how he always loved it---apparently you were on the same wavelength, because you posted this the same night! Great minds think alike!

Ana Karina is one of my idols! I am so glad she married Godard, because he's one of my idols too, which means I can get awesome movies starring an awesome actress.

I have always wanted to be just like her in the Une Femme Est Une Femme where she's singing under the pink gel lights. Fabulous!

Plus her bright colored wardrobe in all the movies doesn't hurt! I recommend Made in America for amazing colorblock shiftdresses.

Classically beautiful hair. Do it!

The film VICTORIA directed & starring the Godard actress Anna Karina and produced by the Canadian producer & director Hejer Charf (www.hejercharf.com) will be showing at Mill Valley Festival (San Francisco) in October where Anna Karina will be the guest of Honor and receive the Mill Valley Film Festival Award. The Festival will show several of her films directed by the great Jean-Luc Godard. Hejer Charf and Anna Karina are working on another project. The New Wave muse is finally back, she is still stunnig! Hejer Charf is just brilliant!
