Our House

[1]

dress: 30s linen jumper
top: 50s cotton blouse
shoes: 70s leather boots
hat: vintage wool beret
belt: vintage

Finally, here it is! The first little peek into our new house. I know it's not much of a peek, but there's still so much work to be done! I found this wonderful convertible typewriter desk at the Salvation Army last week. I'm so excited to finally have a real desk so I can get rid of the terrible folding table I've been using for the past year. Right now the desk is sitting in the living room but eventually it will be moved upstairs to my office. And our poor, pitiful staircase. We finally got down to the original wood after ripping through all of the linoleum and carpet that had been nailed to them over the years. They are still very much a work in progress (as is everything really).

Oh, I think your new place is going to be beautiful - I'd love to have an old house to get to grips with instead of a modern flat, there's so much potential and life. The desk is perfect... is enough envy coming across here yet?? Can't wait to see more pics, of both you and the house!

What a wonderful house! I'm sure that the staircase is beautiful even if it's not finished yet... I would love to fix up an old victorian one day. Hope you're feeling better!

Even this tiniest of sneak peaks has piqued my interest! I want more! You're going to need before and after shots of your house anyhow... you might as well start the virtual tour now!
You look a perfect match for the floors, in that pretty 30s dress and leather boots.

I have to agree with Grace here. I actually adore the stairs in their current state. They just look like they have such an amazing story they are waiting to tell ...

...and I LOVE the desk too! Can't wait to see more pics :)

It was worth the wait! The feeling of light and space is lovely. The profile on the skirting boards are so deep. I love the twisty curve on the staircase. The floorboards are beautifully wide. The timber on the floor and stairs will come up beautifully with more work. Is that a white on the walls or a very soft taupe?
And you are wearing your new 'jumper'. Well done you.

Your house looks so pretty. And I feel your pain, old floors never turn out to be very easy to tear up.
Your out is so great, I just love that jumper :)

For some reason this reminds me of Ali McGraw in "Love Story." Could you or your style be cuter? J'adore these pictures! :)

Great pictures! The emptiness of the room is really beautiful. Plus, those cool old suitcases are a great touch.

They might be a work in progress, but once they are done (especially once you look at the finished product with the stairs and all that was nailed on them), you'll be oh so much happy...

The house, what you've shown, looks gorgeous. What are you planning to do with the floors? Leave them as is or refinish? They're truly beautiful, with those wide planks. Do you know what kind of wood they are?

Your jumper and boots are really pretty too!

i love the floors -- they have so much character. i even like the unfinished stairs, there's so much color in them it almost looks like a pattern.
