Ebay Heartbreaker

Ebay Heartbreaker

I have to admit I've pretty much given up on Ebay as a whole. I'm sure there are good things to be found (as evidenced here) but it's just too exhausting to dig through all of the crap to get to the good stuff. During the past few days of being sick I actually got bored enough to dive in and sort through the masses to see if anything caught my eye. I nearly squealed when I found this sweater! A perfect example of 20s knit sportswear in a lovely shade of mustard with a sailor collar in a small size... do I need to go on? I was already imagining it fitting right in with my wardrobe, dreaming up outfits to wear with it. But it was not to be. The ending bid price was $322! Yowsers! That's a pretty penny. I just hope whoever won loves it as much as I do!

What a great color! Its too bad. I know, I've bid a few times on things, but the end price was way too rich for my blood.

As soon as I saw it I started to figure out how I would knit it myself...I'd definitely try it if I could get enough yarn. I'm thinking light charcoal gray with dark bottle blue accents?

Anyways, yes, Ebay is sucky most of the time. It's like a giant online yard sale; maybe, on a good day, you can find a good thing or two for a good price.

I agree about Ebay for the most part. I've had too many bad experiences. Putting that aside though, my friend Robyn runs a great vintage clothing store on Ebay. So if you wanted you could check her store out before swearing off Ebay all together.

Yikes! I too wandered the halls of ebay and my favorite online shops when I was sick a couple of weeks ago. The good new is that I didn't get sucked into any crazy auctions, and I have a couple fun packages at my door today. :)
Hey, maybe somebody at Modcloth or somewhere will see this sweater and decide to design something along these lines for the masses?

Oof, I was watching that sweater too! I was set to bid around 200, just based on how exceedingly rare 20s knits are, but yikes.

Too adorable. Ebay stresses me out, what with all the last minute bidding.

Word.

Plus, I always forget about ebay auctions--not that I'm off doing something else, I'm probably sitting on the internet laughing at pictures of cats--and then get really, really sad.

But I am sure you will find something lovely and wonderful somewhere else :D

it's funny, i have a digital image of a page in a 20s catalog with a woman wearing a red sweater very similar to this - i named the file 'make this!' - it's such an awesome design. so maybe someone out there can just start making something similar for all of us! i especially like the belt that just buttons closed...
