The Personal Library of Jeanne Lanvin

I have a real affinity for old books. The way the pages feel, the way they smell, the colors on the spines. A couple of weeks ago I ran across a collection of late 1800s elementary school books and snatched up the whole lot. I love them to pieces but they hardly compare to gorgeous books in the private library of Jeanne Lanvin. I guess that's only to be expected... I mean, she is Jeanne Lanvin after all. Just look at those embroidered covers!

Oh my! I've come across my fair share of old books (many inherited from my grandmother). These are so well-kept. No sign of mildew or must! While I can appreciate their meticulous preservation, sometimes I find that the dust is half the fun. Another favorite of mine has got to be inscriptions--which makes me wonder what's been written in the pages and inside the covers of these!
