all photos via The SelbyI have a real affinity for old books. The way the pages feel, the way they smell, the colors on the spines. A couple of weeks ago I ran across a collection of late 1800s elementary school books and snatched up the whole lot. I love them to pieces but they hardly compare to gorgeous books in the
private library of Jeanne Lanvin. I guess that's only to be expected... I mean, she is Jeanne Lanvin after all. Just look at those embroidered covers!

They look so beautiful, I'd love to see whats inside!
I love old books. gorgeous!!!
Oh my! I've come across my fair share of old books (many inherited from my grandmother). These are so well-kept. No sign of mildew or must! While I can appreciate their meticulous preservation, sometimes I find that the dust is half the fun. Another favorite of mine has got to be inscriptions--which makes me wonder what's been written in the pages and inside the covers of these!
