Hiya! Did y'all have a lovely weekend? Things were pretty low key here. We did super exciting things like go to Lowe's to buy new paint for our stairway (we aren't happy with the color we picked originally) and pick out a rug for our hallway. It was pretty much all house related stuff. While we were at the rug store I sort of fell in love with an 1860s handwoven rug until I realized it cost $13,500! Yowza!

This dress is one of my favorites hanging in my closet. It is an Etsy find and in such wonderful condition considering it's nearly 80 years old. Most of the dresses I've found from that era feature some sort of floral print so I love the abstract sea-urchiny print of this one. I've also been looking for a way to wear this hat ever since I thrifted it a couple of months ago. It's getting to be that time of year when I have to give up my wool berets. It hurts a little bit, I must admit. ;)

Speaking of winners, we have found a new home for the pink beaded purse... Giuliyana from Cutest Thing I Ever Saw! Thanks so much to everyone for entering and good luck this week!

Yesterday was such a beautiful morning, Tom and I stopped on the way to do some grocery shopping to take a few photos for the blog. There is a little stream that runs along this property and as we walked through the field we scared a blue heron into flight. I love them! I felt like I was watching a pterodactyl flying away. Speaking of Tom taking photos, if any of you have been following his blog, he's made the switch over to Tumblr and I think it's a much better place to display his photos. If you like abandonment photos, he just returned from an urban exploration trip to Detroit and came back with some truly stunning images of places that have been left to rot as the city slowly decays. You wouldn't believe the things left behind in these buildings! I sort of want to go back with a giant truck and just load it full.

And speaking of road trips, we have another one planned through the south at the beginning of May. Something about this warm spring weather has me itching to hit the road. We're planning on hitting up a couple of historic sites along the way and spend a few days chilling at my parent's cabin. One thing's for certain; we'll have plenty of photos to share along the way. Now I'm just counting down the days.

dace Fall 2010

DACE Fall 2010 from Dace on Vimeo.

I know it's more than a bit contradictory to post a video featuring a fall collection when all I've been talking about is spring, spring, spring. But... I couldn't help myself. More than anything this little film from dace makes me want to escape to some place misty and romantic and just chill out for a few days (weeks?). It also really, really makes me wish my hair would hurry up and grow already! I'm ready to be rid of the fringe and have all-one-length-hair all the way past my shoulders. Knowing it's going to take years for that to happen is a bit much to think about.

But really I think this video is going to be a huge boost to get through the rest of the cold season here. The past few days have been more like summer than anything else but I hear it's going to get cold again before it gets warm for good. I don't mind too much since it will give me the chance to wear this amazing 70s sweater dress I picked up at the thrift store this morning before packing it away for the summer.
