An Incomplete List

I'm not feeling 100% today. Sore throat, sinus pressure, achy muscles, the whole nine yards. I don't think the fact that I stood on my feet (in non-supportive sandals, mind you) in the blazing sun for five hours yesterday at an Obama rally helped. I was seriously exhausted when I got home. So, no pictures today. Instead I'm going to finally post a list I've been tagged with a couple of times (first by FashionDisciplexxx).

First let me start by saying I am a list-maker by nature. Everyday I write a list of things I want to accomplish and get great pleasure in marking those things off my list. I've been known to write down something I've already done just so I can mark it off. However, when it comes to making lists that define who I am, what my likes and dislikes are, I am none too accomplished. The list is constantly changing, evolving. This incomplete list has been sitting in my computer for a least a week and I haven't been able to finish it yet. I fear I never will, so I'm just going to share with you what I have. Enjoy!

I'm like you when it comes to making lists, love the "to do" ones, not good with ones about myself... :)
Also Spanish is on my to learn list too, I learned German in school, but I'm hopeless at it...

hope you feel better! but i bet the obama rally was worth it, he's amazing, plus he really needs all the support he can get with the that tough PA primary coming up. it really must be awesome and intense to be in PA right now!

Thanks for the comments!

jayne: I was already a bit sick when I left for the rally yesterday but it was definitely worth it. Hearing him speak was amazing and the opportunity of a life time. I'll be out voting on Tuesday for sure. As far as spicy food goes, the spicier the better! I love Thai, Indian, Mexican (as long as it's vegetarian, of course).

I just want to say that it' s too bad that a lovely independent woman like yourself would vote for a man when we are looking at our first viable opportunity to elect a woman to lead our country.

As an artist you should be aware that women are never given as much credit and recognition as the men who produce the same bodies of work. Women are the backbone of every culture and every home throughout the world, across race and economic lines.

Please just keep in mind that you will still make 75 cents on every mans dollar today in 2008, take note of every time a man interrupts you mid sentence and of course how often a woman in a position of power is referred to as a, "bitch."

I just wish that for once the ladies would bond together, and not see each other as competition. That is a position that men have kept us in to keep us quiet.

I just love reading your blog and you seem like a woman I could easily identify with so I just had to comment. Just be thankful this rant was not in person! I get pretty passionate! ;)

Anon: I have to say that I find the notion that I would vote for Hilary just because she's a woman a bit offensive. I truly feel that the feminist movement was about giving me a choice. Assuming that I would vote for Hilary just because she's a woman completely disregards my freedom to choose. What about the opportunity to elect the first black man into office? Shouldn't I be just as excited about that historic opportunity?

My choice is to vote for the candidate that I feel has the best plan for our nation. The one who can truly change things for the better. Believe me, I've done my research and I find that the person who best represents me (as a woman) is Barrack Obama.

I realize that this world is not a perfect place for women. There are women all over the world that don't have the freedoms and opportunities that I take for granted on a daily basis. One of the greatest powers that I do have is the power to vote. I owe it to myself and every woman that doesn't have to same right to exercise my choice as I see fit. Not as society deems fit. Not voting for a woman just for the sake of voting for a woman.

I try to keep things on this blog pretty light-hearted and fun. I don't usually get into my politics, but I felt I should respond to your comment. Thank you for reading and I hope you continue to enjoy the blog.
