Winter Looks
The Sartorialist, Vanessa Jackman, ParisX3, Stockholm Street Style, ???, Stockholm Street Style
These days have been so cold and damp that I've barely wanted to leave the house. These lovely ladies are reminding me that there's hope to leave the house looking stylish rather than buried under a pile of layers with warmth as my only concern.

Ace & Jig Spring 2013
I know I've already posted a few spring/summer collections, but none of them have me as excited about warmer weather than this one. It's the new collection from Ace & Jig and I want a closet full of it. I not only like their aesthetic but the business practice behind it so I've made a point to collect one piece from them each season. Last spring it was this dress, then in the fall this top. For this collection I have my eye on the navy striped mini dress. It looks so comfortable and easy to wear.

Madewell Spring 2013
The Madewell lookbook is a highly anticipated thing at my house. I have to admit that most of my wardrobe that isn't vintage comes from Madewell. I'm always watching something on the site, stalking it until it goes on sale. And luckily, they have some pretty good sales! So when this spring's lookbook came out I was excited to check out my future stalking victims. But I have to admit, most of the looks left me at bit, well, MEH! That's the sound of my indifference, in case you didn't catch that.
Now, it's not all bad! There are a few dresses that caught my eye. I love that geometric print sweater and the smocked blouse and the tan overcoat looks like a nice alternative to my nearly worn out trench coat. But most of it was a bit too preppy pastel. A bit too J. Crew, if you will. I know that it's silly to complain about spring clothes being pastel, and obviously there's going to be a bit of a J. Crew vibe since they're the same company. I guess I've just been so smitten with the past seasons, I was a bit surprised at not being bowled over with this one.

The Work of Lisa Kokin
I'm forever finding shoe boxes full of old photos at flea markets and wondering what to do with them. I love flipping through them one by one, wondering who they are, what kind of life they led and why that small remembrance of them ended up for sale to strangers at a flea market instead of treasured by their own future generations. But since I'm never quite sure what to do with them, I always end up leaving them behind.
Lisa Kokin has successfully answered my question as to what should be done with these old images. They should be stitched together to form a maze of anonymous faces, each connected by thin threads and staring back at you from their web. Of course! Why didn't I think of that? If you're a fan of these, you should also check out what Kokin does with old books.

Ulla
Is it really that time already? I think I must say that every season. It's a bit confusing to think about spring collections right now when we're in the middle of a winter that doesn't really feel like much of a winter. I think we've had all of three hard frosts and only a few inches of snow that quickly melted away. The first of the spring collections to catch my eye is Ulla Johnson. The last time one of her collections caught my eye it was for her Gloria Steinem lookalike model. This time it's the easy to wear cotton dress in plaids and prints.

Dark Side of the Moon
I was pretty excited to see this new Bona Drag lookbook land in my inbox yesterday. It's the first sign of spring to come and has me thinking about another road trip that Tom and I have in the planning stages. It won't involve the desert where these ladies are, but somewhere equally as hot in the summertime: the Black Belt of Alabama, ending up on the white shores of the Gulf of Mexico. I haven't had much of a reason to buy a new swimsuit for years so I've been making do with a few vintage ones I have lying around. But the thought of visiting the Gulf has me considering a new purchase. I've been eying lots of Mara Hoffman prints lately (I have a feather print scarf and love it) so this might be the perfect excuse to finally own this.

Where We've Been
- UO jeans
- old Gap flannel shirt
- vintage wool sweater
- Elizabeth & James jacket via Madewell
- Alexa Chung for Madewell hat
- thrifted boy's hiking boots
Where we've been, in case you were wondering, is on a post-holiday Southern road trip to Alabama and Virginia. We spent a few wonderful days lazing about my parent's house and property, a day visiting old friends in Birmingham and stopped along the way home to spend the night at a friend's home and animal sanctuary in the hills of Virginia. When we got home I cleaned out my jacket pockets and found a couple of creek-smoothed rocks, a handful of chicken feathers, a beer bottle cap, a shotgun shell and two road trip Taco Bell receipts. Definitely hard evidence that we had a good time. We're already planning our next trip down.

Old Faithful Shop
I recently finished an office makeover project that included a fresh coat of paint, shelves and hooks on the walls for organizing and a general sprucing up of my daily work space. In doing so, I was definitely coveting lots of items from the Old Faithful Shop. Actually, I wouldn't stop at decorating my office space from this shop. I could seriously raid its stock for the kitchen, the bathroom, the backyard...
