A Golden Home
I'm currently addicted to pinning photos of pretty interiors on my Pinterest page. I came across a set of images and kept pinning, pinning, pinning as each one was better than the last. As I made my way through them, I had the feeling that the images were somehow familiar but I couldn't put my finger on it. It wasn't until I made my way to the last one that I finally figured it out. This lovely space belongs to the equally lovely Lauren N., a fellow vintage Etsy seller of the incomparable Dear Golden Vintage. The photos are from a tour of Lauren's home that can be found on Apartment Therapy. I love the mix of mid-century furniture, colorful textiles and greenery.

Madewell Spring Preview
On this day, one of the coldest of the year so far, the wind chill is eight degrees below zero. What a good day to sit inside and dream about a new spring wardrobe. This is the spring preview from Madewell. The collection is the first for new Madewell designer Somsack Sikhounmuong. The idea behind the collection is unpacking your suitcase after a trip around the world. What sorts of prints and fabrics and accessories would you come home with after days spent in Japan, Morocco or Mexico? Think of the special pieces you pick up along your travels that would mix in with your favorite jeans and tees. I really like the idea behind the collection and I think that translates into liking the actual collection. I could definitely see myself in some of these pieces.

Lady Moriarty in Paris
If there's one person who is giving me a case of closet envy these days it is Lady Moriarty in Paris. She has that Parisian-quirkiness-meets-tomboy thing going on that seems like it would be easy, but is somehow anything but.

Elemental Child
The snow is falling heavily again today and it's looking more and more like a winter wonderland outside. I love the look of snow covered branches. Especially when I know I don't have to leave the house at all today. Something about the magical landscape out my window is reminding me of these photos for the Elemental Child lookbook. Elemental Child is the debut collection of beautifully designed crystal headpieces by Gillian Chadwick. They were captured by photographer Courtney Brooke on muses Kater Resler and Samantha Chaplin. I think MAGIC is the perfect word to describe these scenes.

Ingrid Starnes: Winter 2014
photos via Always Sometimes Anytime
I'd heard a lot about the British television series The Bletchley Circle via blogs and was curious to see it. I set the DVR to record it just in case it came on here and was happy to discover all three episodes waiting patiently for me after they aired on PBS. For those of you who haven't seen it, it's a mystery series about four women who used to work as codebreakers at Bletchley Park during WWII. The story is inspiring, as is the wardrobe that the four characters wear. Personally, well-traveled Lucy is my favorite. I was excited to find that Ingrid Starnes' Winter 2014 collection is inspired by The Bletchley Circle. I can see a little bit of each of the Bletchley ladies in these pieces. There are lots of feminine details and strong jackets. I think the printed pieces are my favorites.

Etsy: Cozy Sweaters
I went a bit crazy with the sweaters this week! But who could blame me when it's been so darn cold outside every single day? There are more than 40 sweaters in the Etsy shop right now, waiting for new homes. What you see here is only a small handful of them! You can find them all here...

Mean Reds
If you were to look through my closet, the color you would see the least would be red. I've never been much of a red-wearer, so I was surprised when I realized that several of my recent vintage acquisitions are indeed... red. I've been enjoying the pop of color to my wardrobe that is mostly neutral tones of black, grey and brown.

Raw Denim
photos from APC Instagram
For the past year or so I've been toying with the idea of buying a pair of raw denim jeans to break in. For a long while I didn't wear jeans very often, but lately, I've been living in them. I just haven't been able to find the perfect pair and it seems that a pair broken in by your own daily wearing would by definition, have to be the perfect pair.
I've done a bit of online searching and unfortunately, most of the information about raw denim is directly at guys. Apparently it's sort of a guy thing. Who knew? I did find one helpful post here which gave me a few ideas of where to start.
I'm leaning towards a pair of A.P.C. jeans. But they have so many fits, I'm not sure which one would be right for me. So... the next time we're in NYC I'll definitely be stopping in the A.P.C. store to try on as many pairs as it takes until I find the right ones. I'm also curious about Raleigh Denim since they have jeans cut for women, but their raw denim is not 100% cotton and I'm not sure how that affects the "breaking in" process. Any ladies out there have any experience with raw denim?

Alabama Black Belt, Pt. 5
Here a just a few more photos from out time spent winding out way across the state of Alabama. The town of Luverne has a sign welcoming us and stated they were "The Friendliest Town in the South". I have to say they lived up to that as we ran into a couple of strangers that were more than happy to stop and tell us stories about growing up there. One even opened an old building and have us a quick tour. Now that the trip and entire project is over, we're getting excited for our next adventure... California and the Mojave Desert in May!
