Dejarnette Jewelry

Here I go again saying how I’m not a jewelry kind of girl and yet posting about jewelry. I just can’t help myself when the jewelry in question is as sweet and delicate as the pieces at Dejarnette, a New Orleans based online jewelry boutique. I’m partial to the pieces in the Objet Trouvé collection, described on the site as “unique creations from vintage finds.” With prices starting around just $40, I’d say they look like the perfect holiday gift idea.

Virtual Window Shopping

One great advantage of living in the computer age is the ability to window shop all around the world at the click of a button. My latest favorite place to browse the virtual aisles is Office. They do offer shipping to the U.S. but there's that pesky exchange rate to deal with. Can someone please do something about that already?

Scandinavian Girls

Well, it's the 12th of the month and I still haven't done my "It Girl of the Month" post. I just haven't been able to pin point one particular person that has been a fashion influence for me this month. I feel like I'm in a bit of a transitional phase, fashion-wise. I suddenly feel like I've grown out of the granny-chic thing a bit and would like to move on to just plain chic. Maybe that's a sign of settling into my thirties. Some of the best examples I've seen of this are from the Swedish bloggers. They seem to have found a perfect balance of sleek and sophisticated yet whimsical and young. And yes, I recognize the irony in looking to girls half my age for a more mature fashion inspiration. And again, yes, sometimes I look at these girls and think, "Oh my! After being under the weather for a couple of days, comfort was the name of the game today. This outfit is about as basic as you can get. Honestly, I debated on whether to even share it with you or not. It's a bit on the boring side. Oh well, we all have those days, right?

After a sick day at home yesterday, lying on the couch, eating soup and watching bad television, it's back to work today. A vintage shopping excursion over the weekend with a friend that was visiting from Alabama (Hi Daye!) turned up a comfy oversized cardigan and a black and maroon 80's bag. They are my new favorites of course.

In an alternate universe this coat would be mine all mine. But seeing how I live in the universe where the pound is two to one over the dollar and I have yet to win the lottery, I guess I'll have to settle for admiring it from afar.
