Street Style Favorites

Untitled-1

My street style folder has been filling up with pretty feminine looks; especially ones with longer skirts lengths.

The Lace Factory

Sally Jane Vintage: Lace Factory from Tom b. on Vimeo.

Over the past couple of weeks you've seen lots of photos from inside the abandoned lace factory. Now it's finally time to show you what we were really up to in there! After seeing video lookbooks from several of my favorite designers (dace, Alexandra Grecco & Lover among others) I had the itch to try something similar. I've been thinking about it for ages but since we don't have any experience with this sort of thing it took a while for us to figure out how to go about it. When Tom suggested we shoot inside the lace factory I knew that would be the perfect place.

I have to say a huge thank you to Tom for shooting and editing the whole thing! I'm super happy with the way it turned out even though I have to admit it's a little strange seeing myself in the video. I could barely watch the first time Tom showed it to me. Hopefully next time we do this, I won't be quite so self-conscious in front of the camera! I'm used to photos but video was a whole new ballgame. I hope you like it!

Nadinoo AW 2010

1

How ridiculously charming is the new AW collection from Nadinoo? I love everything! It's perfect 60s girliness without being too cutesy or young. A camel colored cape just moved way up my wish list!

Here are the last of the photos that Tom and I took at the abandoned lace factory. We ended up wandering around in the vast buildings until we found what used to be their showroom. There was a fake storefront with painted glass, backdrops for photos shoots and loads of old samples. If everything hadn't been so disintegrated, I might have come home with a stack full of old lace!

3

There were also stacks and stacks of old lace patterns. They were these huge sheets that had holes punched in a seemingly random pattern. The patterns would be fed through equally huge machines, each one yielding a different final product.

Monday I'll finally be able to show you the other little project that Tom and I were working on at the lace factory!

After our visit to Adamstown we decided to make a stop at the Ephrata Cloisters. We had intentions to visit the Cloisters last week but Mother Nature had other plans and we got the remains of a hurricane instead. This day, in contrast, was clear blue skies and perfect for walking around outside.

The Cloisters were a religious group founded by German settlers in the mid 1700s. And, boy, were they serious! We're talkin' about sleeping on wooden benches with wooden pillows (no pillow fights allowed!), only eating one small meal a day and waking up for two hours every night at midnight to sit in their rooms waiting for Christ to return. But, hey, that's what the new country was all about right? Religious freedom, y'all!

They might have had some extreme beliefs, but they really knew how to build some cute buildings! Little dormer windows everywhere, heart shape cut-outs on the outhouses, beautiful hardwood floors! Every one had a doll house look and I kept imagining how much fun it would be to fix one up to live in.

Here's a look at the next batch of dresses I'll be adding to the Etsy shop. They aren't quite ready yet but I thought I'd give you a sneak peek. I'll finish up the listings in the morning.
