New York Fashion Weak

Oh, please forgive me for the terrible pun. I just couldn't resist. New York Fashion Week has left me feeling a bit let down. Perhaps it's because my head is completely filled with visions of fall fashions or maybe it's because sometimes Fashion Week reminds me of what I dislike most about fashion - how it's designed to make you feel as if you need, need, need the latest designer creation in order to be "in fashion". I usually enjoy seeing the daily updates on style.com as the collections pour in from the tents. This time, for some reason, it just seems like such work digging through collection after collection waiting for something to catch my eye. To be perfectly honest, I didn't even make it through all of the collections. I'm hoping that I just skipped over the one that would have knocked my socks off had I the will to trudge through them all. Did I? Do you have any recommendations? Maybe come February when I'm complaining of the cold and wishing for warm spring weather I can revisit these collections and enjoy them a bit more. I'm crossing my fingers that I can muster up more excitement for London Fashion Week. Sorry to sound so dour! All is not lost... here are a few looks that I'm saving for that dreary February day.

NY Fashion Week
J. Mendel, Barbara Tfank, Marc by Marc Jacobs, Abaete, Rebecca Taylor, Karen Walker

I agree with you, I'm almost sure in those snowy February days we'll look back at the collections with another feeling :-)

Oh Jennifer I know what you mean! But check out Charles Anastase's show from London FW, it's amazing! All the items are at the top of my DIY list.

I'm sorry, I keep forgetting to send my thank you note for the lovely items you sent me! I'll get round to the post office soon.

Woohoo, Karen Walker at New York fashion week! I guess this is one of the few times being in the Southern Hemisphere has benifits, with inspiration for the current season coming in. Though I still have no patience for flicking through collection after collection... hurray for street fashion blogs I say.

Although we don't pretend for a moment to be in big fashion week league with the likes of New York etc, if you feel like looking at something different, New Zealand Fashion Week starts this week, check out www.runwayreporter.co.nz who knows you may find something to bring yourself out of the fashion week doldrums : )

I'm just glad to see someone from little old New Zealand getting some interest at an international level.
And for Sophia...the bottom right is Karen Walker

I loved Karen Walker because of all of lovely muted, blue pieces.

Have you checked out Catherine Holstein's collection? (She wasn't included on Style.com, but you can find the looks here.) It was one of the only collections that really grabbed my attention this time around.

rosaline: Thanks for the link! I knew style.com didn't cover all of the shows but I wasn't sure where I could view all the others. I've got lots of catching up to do!
